The debate between online portals continues with two new reports adding fuel to the flame.
Rightmove claims to have had its busiest May ever, with 115m visits to the website – over and above the total for May last year by 22%.
The portal is claiming this is equivalent of every adult in the UK visiting Rightmove twice during the month and to further congratulate their performance- they had their busiest ever day for visits recorded on Tuesday 19th May. Rightmove says this shows home-hunters took less than two weeks after the general election to get back into their searching development.
In the meantime a survey of private landlords by Landlord Today, which is a related publication of Estate Agent Today, shows that only 39% had heard of OnTheMarket. This was based on a sample of 373 individual private landlords in early June, some 369 answered the question ‘Have you heard of OnTheMarket?’ and of these, 61% had not heard of the new portal while 39% had heard of it.
Of those landlords who had heard of OTM (88%), wanted their property listed on Zoopla and Rightmove. Meanwhile of those landlords who had not head of OTM, some 72% still wanted their property listed on both Zoopla and Rightmove.
When looked at in terms of size of property portfolio, 100% of landlords with 10 or more properties had heard of OTM.
However, no landlord with less than six properties had heard of OnTheMarket.
